When Is The Right Time?

Schedule an appointment to talk with our veterinarians. Your veterinarian is the best-qualified person to help guide you through this difficult process. You will ultimately make the decision based on your observances of your pet’s behavior and attitude. Here are some signs that may indicate your pet is suffering or no longer enjoying a good quality of life:
- Is your pet is experiencing chronic pain that cannot be controlled with medication? (Your veterinarian can help you determine if your pet is in pain).
- Does your pet have frequent vomiting or diarrhea that is causing dehydration and/or significant weight loss?
- Has your pet stopped eating or will only eat if you force feed.
- Is your pet incontinent to the degree that they are fecal or urine soaked?
- Has your pet lost interest in all or most of their favorite activities, such as going for walks, playing with toys or other pets, eating treats or soliciting attention and petting from family members?
- Your pet cannot stand on their own or falls down when trying to walk.
- Labored breathing or open mouth breathing or uncontrollable coughing.
